Advanced Cathodic Electrophoretic Painting Line

  • Description
  • System Composition

The cathodic electrophoretic painting (CEP) line represents a state-of-the-art surface finishing solution, widely adopted in automotive manufacturing, industrial machinery, household appliances, electronic enclosures, and metal parts fabrication. By utilizing an electrochemical deposition process, this system deposits a uniform, highly adhesive, and corrosion-resistant organic coating onto conductive substrates, dramatically enhancing product longevity and appearance.

At OURS COATING, we design and build turnkey electrophoretic lines that integrate pretreatment, electrophoresis, post-rinsing, and curing stages into a seamless, automated production flow. Our systems are engineered to boost throughput, reduce operating costs, and deliver consistent, premium-quality finishes, giving your business a decisive competitive edge.

A complete cathodic electrophoretic line consists of several interdependent modules, each precisely controlled to ensure optimal coating performance:

• Rectifier (Power Supply) – Provides the stable DC voltage and current required for electrophoresis. Our advanced rectifiers feature programmable ramping and ripple control, ensuring uniform film deposition even on complex-shaped workpieces.

• Electrophoretic Tank – The central process vessel, typically constructed of corrosion-resistant steel with internal lining. It houses the anode cells (e.g., tubular or plate anodes) and the cathodic workpieces suspended on the conveyor. The tank is equipped with a circulation and filtration system to maintain bath stability, temperature uniformity, and proper solids content.

• Ultrafiltration (UF) and Rinsing System – UF units recover excess paint and provide clean permeate for post-rinsing, improving paint utilization and reducing wastewater discharge. Multi-stage spray rinsing ensures thorough removal of drag-out, preventing surface defects.

• Conveyor & Suspension Mechanism – A heavy-duty overhead or floor-mounted conveyor transports workpieces through the entire line at a controlled speed. The suspension system includes conductive hangers that ensure reliable electrical contact, critical for consistent film thickness.

• Pretreatment Section – Although not part of the electrophoresis tank itself, a complete line includes degreasing, phosphating (or zirconium conversion), and rinsing stages. Proper pretreatment is essential for adhesion and corrosion resistance.

• Curing Oven – After electrophoresis, workpieces enter a gas-fired or electric convection oven, where the paint film is cross-linked at elevated temperatures (typically 160-200°C) to achieve final hardness and gloss.

• Control & Monitoring System – A PLC-based central control unit with HMI touchscreen monitors and adjusts key parameters (voltage, bath temperature, pH, conductivity, solid content) in real time, ensuring repeatable quality and full production traceability.
